Exterity Widens Lead in TV Gateway Market - 07 Sep 2010

Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, today announces that its AvediaStream TVgateway line now supports the Clear QAM US cable standard, enabling customers to deliver top-quality TV across organisational networks in more countries than any competing product line. Part of Exterity’s integrated, end-to-end building IPTV solution, AvediaStream TVgateways make multiple TV channels from satellite, terrestrial or cable sources available to users over a standard IP network, to be viewed on TVs, AV displays, or personal computers.

The company’s AvediaStream TVgateways also now include sophisticated PID filtering, providing organisations with the ultimate control over audio, subtitles and other channel metadata on their network. Organisations can create multiple in-house channels in different languages from the same source or eliminate extra data traffic, such as unnecessary languages or subtitles, from their networks to conserve bandwidth and improve security. For instance, a hotel can make sure that guests get TV channels in the language they prefer without requiring them to deal with complicated settings on their room TV.

“The addition of sophisticated PID filtering now gives the AvediaStream line the most comprehensive and advanced capabilities on the market,” says Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. “Exterity has a history of being the first to market with important new building IPTV products, and with the addition of Clear QAM support and other advanced features, maintaining our place at the forefront of innovation.”

The Exterity AvediaStream TVgateway line now supports the widest range of digital TV standards available: DVB-T, DVB-T2, DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-C, ATSC and Clear QAM, as well as a wide range of standard third-party CAMs to descramble encrypted channels. Their blade/chassis design provides a highly-reliable, modular solution with low power requirements, and the availability of dual-tuner models provides more channels per chassis and lower cost and power consumption per channel than competing designs. Like all Exterity building IPTV devices, they are easily managed from any networked PC via AvediaServer Director
