EDEM Particle Simulation Technology - 02 Nov 2010

EDEM particle simulation technology is used by leading companies in a wide range of industries, including mining, metals processing, pharmaceutical, construction and agricultural machinery, food and consumer goods, paper, and chemicals to simulate and analyze the performance of bulk particle handling and processing equipment --from powders and granules to ore, grains, tablets, fibers and more.

Already the fastest DEM (Discrete Element Method) software on the market, GPGPU-based acceleration of EDEM substantially reduces compute times and will increase productivity for all users, but especially for customers who rely on the most advanced and computation-intensive capabilities of EDEM.

" We are pleased to partner with AMD in this pioneering deployment of their graphics accelerator technology in our state-of-the-art CAE application of DEM,“ said John Favier, CEO of DEM Solutions, “and we look forward to continued increases in the speed and scale of simulations this enables. The substantial acceleration achieved with the new OpenCL implementation of our EDEM simulation engine on ATI FirePro™ hardware will enable our customers in all industry sectors to increase both the number of design prototypes and the complexity of models they can simulate in a given time.“

" DEM Solutions and AMD are collaborating to provide DEM software customers with an exceptional solution using ATI FirePro graphics,” said Janet Matsuda, general manager, AMD Professional Graphics. “By selecting OpenCL for their development, DEM Solutions is providing their customers with outstanding performance to accelerate their design process and the cost effectiveness of an open standard. “
