Exterity Launches New Broadcast Network Av Products - 07 Sep 2006

London, 11th August 2006: Exterity, a specialist in network audio-visual (AV), is set to launch its broadcast-standard range of network AV products at this year's IBC.  Exterity will unveil its MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoders and transcoders with component video and SDI support, its TVgateway with CAM and ASI interfaces and its archiva recording application.  All products will, for the first time, provide AV professionals with a complete and cost-effective opportunity to replace traditional analog coaxial systems.

The MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoders, based on Exterity's in-socket technology, can deliver TV and video around any building through an IP network.  Using the new range of video interfaces, including component video and SDI, Exterity can ensure the integrity of all streamed media, guaranteeing broadcast standard quality.  The encoders effectively terminate the need for cables, offering production houses and AV specialists greater flexibility, scalability and control.

Exterity's existing TVgateway product family, which captures broadcast television from digital satellite and terrestrial sources and distributes these over an IP network, has been enhanced with support for DVB-S2 for HDTV broadcasts, DVB CI Conditional Access Module for descrambling TV broadcasts before streaming and ASI interfaces to allow integration with broadcast distribution equipment.

The avedia archiva network video recorder (NVR) records and archives off-air content, which can then be accessed on demand.  Recording on the network with avedia archiva removes the requirement for physical tapes and allows an organisation to rapidly scale their recording capability with their standard IT infrastructure.

"The use of IP-based TV within the enterprise market has grown substantially over the past few years, with companies large and small realising the benefits of true voice, data and video convergence.  However, the broadcasting industry has been reluctant to move away from traditional analog systems due to quality issues.  Our new range of broadcast specific products tackles this issue and guarantees high quality images, through interfaces and standards that the broadcast industry has come to expect and know," commented Colin Farquhar, CEO, Exterity.

All products will be available in the autumn from Exterity's partners.
