Completion of £10m Bishop Wilson Primary School, North Solihull

The new Bishop Wilson Church of England Primary School building, that incorporates St Andrew’s Church, adult learning, social and cafe facilities as well as office accommodation for the local primary care trust officially opened its doors on the 6th September 2013. The new £10m school building is located in Chelmund’s Cross, Solihull and was built by Morgan Sindall under the joint appointment of the North Solihull Partnership and Solihull Council.

Following an intensive design and planning process the school building took just under a year to build and is the cornerstone of the North Solihull Partnership’s social and economic regeneration of Chelmund’s Cross Village Centre that will also see new public realm, health and retail buildings and council offices all alongside a new enterprise centre currently being built to attract, house and promote fledging small local businesses.

This new primary school is the fourth school to be built via the collaboration of the NSP/SMBC primary schools programme, with a further six more schools earmarked for newbuild or remodelling. Previously completed schools under the North Solihull primary schools programme are Kingshurst, Smith’s Wood Community and St Anne’s Catholic primaries, in which Sigma Inpartnership has played an integral role throughout the entire planning, procurement and subsequent development process.
