In 2021, Sigma Capital Group plc was acquired by pan-European private equity specialist PineBridge Benson Elliot, providing the capital support to accelerate Sigma’s growth in the Build-to-Rent sector.
Since the acquisition, Sigma has delivered or contracted on over 4,500 homes, equating to £1.06bn GDC (Gross Development Costs) and c.£72m ERV. PineBridge Benson Elliot became part of the combined MetLife Investment Management & PineBridge Investments platform following the completion of MetLife Investment Management’s acquisition of PineBridge in late 2025. This expanded platform brings broader global reach, deeper investment capabilities, and enhanced resources to support Sigma’s strategy and scaling ambitions.
All Sigma properties continue to be marketed and managed through Simple Life Homes, ensuring high-quality delivery and operational excellence.
Sigma has continued to expand its regional operations, with new house-builder collaborations and is aiming to deliver an additional 15,000–20,000 new homes over the next five years.
LONDON MULTIFAMILY BTR FUND
In September 2020, Sigma announced the launch of a Joint Venture with EQT Exeter, the real estate platform of global investment firm EQT, focused on new-build homes for private rental in Greater London. The Joint Venture is being supported by Homes England, the housing agency of the UK Government, and has committed c.£600m of GDC – funding c.1,500 units to date.
The JV has invested in new, high quality build-to-rent residential apartment blocks in more affordable parts of Greater London. They are predominantly located in transport Zones 3-6 and in close proximity to transport links, including train access to central London.
Sigma has its own rental brand, ‘Simple Life London’, through which the new homes for the JV are let. The brand has been created to set a new gold standard in the private rental market.
