Sigma has been supporting Loaves and Fishes Homelessness Charity for the last 5 years. The charity, located in Salford provides a drop in service for the homeless, providing vulnerable people with food, workshops, help and advice.
During the time that Sigma has been supporting the charity, the number of visitors has rapidly increased. Last year the centre saw 569 visitors, and handed out 395 food parcels, so donations to the charity are very much needed to help respond to the increasing demand for their services. In previous years Sigma’s support has provided the charity with laptops to be used for IT classes and CV writing, materials for arts and crafts workshops, the paving and equipment for a new outdoor BBQ area. In 2019 the charity wished to use the donation to purchase personal alarms for staff. We’re really pleased to see the alarm system is now installed, allowing the charity to continue to grow whilst offering staff and volunteers a safe environment to work.
Niamh Waldron, ESG Director for Sigma Capital, comments:
“Supporting the community in all ways is an important part of what we do, so ensuring the safety and wellbeing of staff and volunteers as they provide support to others is an illustration of our breadth of ESG commitment. We’re pleased to continue to support Loaves and Fishes and be a part of their journey as they grow and as they help many vulnerable people in the Salford area.”
Jonathan Billings, CEO, Loaves and Fishes adds:
“We are delighted to receive such fantastic support from Sigma Capital. The support we have received has enabled us to work in a safe environment. It has been a very challenging 12 months during the lockdowns and this has had a very negative impact on hundreds of local people. We have remained open and operational during the lockdowns. Without the support of organisations like Sigma Capital we would not have been able to do this. Thank you very much Sigma Capital for everything you do for Salford Loaves and Fishes and the hundreds of people who use our services.”
