Sigma prepares for growth with a trio of new starters

Private rental sector (“PRS”), residential and urban regeneration specialist Sigma Capital Group (“Sigma”) has welcomed three new starters to its team in London and Manchester.

Having recently announced its joint venture with EQT Real Estate (“EQT”), bringing its Simple Life PRS housing model to London, Sigma has appointed Gavin Karney as financial analyst. Gavin, having previously worked for PwC, will provide on-site financial planning, analysis, commercial finance and tax support to the Sigma PRS London operations team, and will also work closely with the head office finance team in Edinburgh. He is excited to be joining a team that is highly regarded as the pioneers of PRS in the UK and is looking forward to being part of the joint venture with EQT.

Quorum Lawley also joins Sigma as a financial analyst, and having previously worked at AJ Gallagher, Merrill Lynch and Swiss Re, brings many years of experience to the role. Based in Manchester, Quorum will work closely with both the property and asset management teams providing financial support whilst also delivering accurate and timely KPI reporting metrics to support decision making processes. Quorum said: “With the recent expansion of the business into London, it’s a really exciting time to be joining Sigma and there’s a great company culture and positive environment.”

Natalie Hughes has also joined the team as an assistant property asset manager, having previously worked in the social housing sector. Natalie brings more than 12 years’ experience in repairs and asset management, while also being a qualified chartered construction manager. Natalie’s main responsibilities will include asset management programmes and post warranty maintenance.

Sigma has been successfully delivering PRS homes across the regions of the UK since 2015. Sigma created and subsequently launched The PRS REIT plc (“REIT”), which was floated in 2017. Sigma has now delivered over 3,100 homes across the UK on behalf of the REIT and once fully optimised is expected to be around 5,200 homes. In September 2020, Sigma announced the launch of a joint venture with EQT Real Estate to deliver high quality, new-build homes for private rent in Greater London. The joint venture is supported by Homes England, the housing agency of the UK Government and is targeting an initial portfolio of c.3,000 homes with a value in excess of £1bn. All homes are marketed under Sigma’s dedicated and professional brand ‘Simple Life’ and its new brand for London ‘Simple Life London’.
