Year 9 and 10 students from Stocksbridge High School made the short trip to site to see the development of 24 apartments, on land off Park Grange Road in Norfolk Park, which is being built in partnership with Sheffield Housing Company (SHC), Keepmoat Regeneration (part of Engie Group) and Sigma Capital Group.
Keepmoat Project Manager Gerry Doherty gave the students a tour around the perimeter of the site with an opportunity to ask any questions about the development and careers in construction.
Gerry said: “At Keepmoat, we believe it is important to encourage students to visit our developments, to find out what it’s like to work on a construction site and to ask any questions they might have about the work taking place.
“The students visited the site through the Cutler’s Construction Ambassador Programme, which seeks to develop young people’s job-ready skills, character and industry knowledge required for the world of work.
“It was a pleasure to welcome the students from Stocksbridge High School and meet the next generation of construction talent.”
Fiona Finch, Stocksbridge High School Teacher, said: “It was really valuable for the students to see how construction works in the real world. Getting students out of the classroom and working with employers allows students to link their current learning to future aspirations.”
Once completed, the lettings and property management of the two bedroom apartments will be undertaken by Sigma under their growing private rental brand ‘Simple Life’ – which allows tenants to enjoy flexibility and the freedom of purpose-built rental properties, expertly managed for total peace of mind. The 2.7million development is due to complete at the end of September 2017.
The Sheffield project is part of a wider investment to deliver a target of 5,000 high quality new homes for private rental across the country by 2021.
