We’ve launched our private rental sector (PRS) market research report, which reveals the nation’s behaviours and attitudes around renting.

We surveyed more than 2,000 private renters and our published report reveals what how they feel about a range of issues.

    Within the report, we cover:
    • The barriers for private renters
    • The reasons people choose to rent
    • How the experiences of private renters change across demographic groups, with insights into how private housing providers can engage with them

Download your copy of the report for immediate access to all the findings.

The research was led by Lauren Elliott of Trinity McQueen, on behalf of Sigma.

Lauren says: “Something that struck us quite early on in the research was the vast difference in experiences people have whilst renting. It became very noticeable that there is a lack of standardisation within the rental marketplace, so renters can feel on the back foot – and not in control. From tenancy to tenancy, they never know what to expect with regards to what they can and can’t do, what is tenant or landlord responsibility, how fees and rental increases work and the degree of customer service they can expect. Build-to-rent providers can really now start to set the standard which will inevitably start to reduce the grey areas of renting, making it even more attractive.”
