Sigma sponsors Sale Under 18’s Rugby Club for a second year

Sigma was proud to be the main sponsor for the Sale Colts (under 18’s) Rugby Club in 2017. Our sponsorship helped the club to fund its team kit and we are delighted to continue our support in 2018.

This year, we have donated a further £2,000 to the club’s local schools’ scheme, which offers introductory rugby lessons to children across a number of schools within the area, including Flixton Girl’s School (pictured). Last year, the scheme taught rugby skills to around 2,520 children.

The scheme has proved extremely popular with girls, and the club is hoping that with further induction lessons this year, they will be able to set up the first girl’s rugby team in the region.

On behalf of the club, General Manager, Dave Hulme, said: “The support the Sale FC Rugby receives from Sigma Capital enables the club to not only support our Junior Colts with the purchase of a playing strip but also to reach out to the wider community with our coaching programme.

“In particular, the backing Sigma Capital has provided has allowed our community coach to implement free coaching sessions at Flixton Girls School and it also allows us to promote the game to a vast, largely untapped area. The partnership between the club and Sigma Capital is a fantastic example of the business and sports communities working closely to benefit others.”

Andy Hughes, Community Coach at the club, said: “The generous support of Sigma Capital has enabled Sale FC Community Rugby to take the game into schools and deliver free coaching sessions and equipment, providing the opportunity for kids to engage in the sport.

“Women’s rugby is one of the country’s fastest-growing female sports, with 30,000 women and girls playing regularly at a club. It has received huge exposure of the elite game due to the new Women’s Premier 15’s League being implemented, and England Women having reached two World Cup finals since 2014, one of which they won. Sigma Capital has enabled us to take rugby into Flixton Grammar school and allow the talented pupils to play and partake in this ever-growing sport.”
